Aliya-Jasmine Sovani is a TV Host & Producer specializing in Sports, Pop Culture, and Youth-focused documentaries.
She is currently the anchor & segment producer of MTV News in Canada, reporter for the NHL Network during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and for TSN’s coverage of the EURO CUP 2012. Best known for her work during the Vancouver 2012 Olympics as the Whistler Reporter for CTV’s Olympic Morning show, and hosting the hit talk show 1 girl 5 gays on Logo TV in the USA. In addition to her Sports & Pop Culture coverage she has also produced & hosted documentaries on girls rights in Sudan, and the earthquake in Haiti for DISCOVERY Channel. And most recently a documentary called Pipeline Wars for MTV about the Northern Gateway Pipeline being built through the Great Bear Rainforest.
She was selected as one of HELLO! Magazine’s 50 most beautiful Canadians, and for multiple years appeared in the National Post newspaper’s Worthy-30 Canadians to watch list. In addition to working on a Gemini Award winning show. AJ received international recognition including CNN, The View, Jay Leno, andGood Morning America for a Breast Cancer Awareness video she wrote/created/and starred-in that went viral called “Save the Boobs” in support of ReThink Breast Cancer, to which she sits as the Co-Chair for half a decade.Before working at MTV Aliya-Jasmine worked behind-the-scenes as a Producer atMuchMusic for their LIVE daily flagship show Much OnDemand, and in various production/crew roles at BPM:TV, Star!, and Fashion Television as well as a freelance magazine writer, columnist, and professional speaker. Aliya-Jasmine graduated with a degree in Broadcast Communications from the University of Ottawa.
